This presentation will equip veterinary behaviorists with the tools to support their clients better by understanding the value of the human-animal bond. It will explore the burden of care experienced by pet owners and caregivers, emphasising how recognising these challenges can lead to more effective interventions.

Additionally, the talk will highlight the importance of referring clients to counselling, peer support services and other supports, showcasing how and when this approach can enhance client well-being, decrease the emotional load for veterinary behaviourists and improve outcomes for the animals they care for.
